To enhance office security without compromising personal privacy, there is a need for innovative solutions. Passive RFID tags can be used to identify and detect theft in shopping malls, while surveillance using GPS is effective for tracking larger assets. However, these technologies may not be suitable for small office assets or in open environments. A solution based on wireless sensor networks and a middleware system called STITCH can provide selective and less intrusive security measures. By detecting and communicating location proximity or containment information, this approach enables efficient coordination of security activities in an open office setting.
