Final Year Engineering Projects

Redaction Based ATM Monitoring System Using MSP 430 Projects For Final Year Engineering Students

Introduction:

Now a day’s electronic devices become smaller and lower in power Requirements, and they are less expensive. we have begun to adorn our bodies with personal information and communication appliances. Such devices include cellular phones, pagers, personal digital assistants, and many more. But currently, there is no such method for these kinds of devices to share data. Networking these kinds of devices can reduce functional I/O redundancies and allow new Conveniences and services. Human society is entering an era of modern computing, when networks are smoothly interconnected. The implementation of ubiquitous services requires three levels of connectivity: Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Human Area Networks (HAN) for connectivity to personal information, sharing data, media, and communication appliances within the much smaller areas for communication. RedTacton is a technology that uses the surface of the human body as a high-speed and safe network transmission path. Here, the human body acts as a transmission medium supporting half-duplex communication at 10Mbit/s.

Red Tacton technology is an electronic future where information can be accessed whenever and wherever needed at our fingertips. Some of the communication equipment that is required to provide this immediate access to information will be Incorporated into our attire. Just as a quick look at today’s wristwatch saves a trip to the nearest clock; a glance at tomorrow’s wristwatch will replace finding a terminal to check e-mail. RedTacton is a new Human Area Networking technology that was introduced by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) that uses the human body surface as a high-speed and safe network transmission path. RedTacton is a Breakthrough technology that enables reliable high-speed HAN for the first time.

Block Diagram Explanation:

Power supply unit

This section needs two voltages viz., +12 V & +5 V, as working voltages. Hence specially designed power supply is constructed to get regulated power supplies.

4X4 Keypad:

A keypad is a set of buttons arranged in a block or “pad” which usually bears digits, symbols, and usually a complete set of alphabetical letters. If it mostly contains numbers then it can also be called a numeric keypad. Keypads are found on many alphanumeric keyboards and on other devices such as calculators, push-button telephones, combination locks, and digital door locks, which require mainly numeric input.

DTME Encoder:

The DTMF Encoder uses a radio frequency to transmit the control signals for generating the DTMF frequencies, a dedicated IC UM95089 (which is used as a dialer IC in telephone instruments) is used here. It uses a quartz crystal of 3.58 MHz

DTMF Decoder:

This project uses the DTMF decoder UM 8870 IC. The DTMF decoder identifies the transmitted signal. If a valid code is received then only the switch sends the signal to the ARM controller, the ARM controller used is ARM7LPC2148.

MSP 430 Microcontroller:

MSP low-power microcontrollers (MCUs) from Texas Instruments (TI) are RISC-based, mixed-signal processors that include smart analog and digital peripherals and offer several additional options such as low-power embedded RF and security such as AES encryption. MSP microcontrollers offer the ultimate solution for a wide range of low-power and portable applications.

Buffers

Buffers do not affect the logical state of a digital signal (i.e. a logic 1 input results in a logic 1 output whereas logic 0 input results in a logic 0 output). Buffers are normally used to provide extra current drive at the output but can also be used to regularize the logic present at an interface

Drivers

This section is used to drive the relay where the output is the complement of input which is applied to the drive but the current will be amplified.

Relays

It is an electromagnetic device that is used to drive the load connected across the relay and the o/p of the relay can be connected to the controller or load for further processing.

Buzzer:

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric. Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm devices, timers, and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke.

Voice recorder:

The aPR33A series are powerful audio processors along with high-performance audio analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The aPR33A series is a fully integrated solution offering high performance and unparalleled integration with analog input, digital processing, and analog output functionality.  High-quality audio/voice systems with lower bill-of-material costs can be implemented with the aPR33A series because of its integrated analog data converters and a full suite of quality-enhancing features such as sample-rate converters.

In this messages must be recorded or played back sequentially, specially designed for simple key triggers, the user can record and playback the message. Meanwhile, this mode provides a power-management system.

Methodology:

RedTacton is a Human Area Networking technology, which is developed by Robin Gaur Jind that uses the surface of the human body as a safe, high-speed network transmission path. It is completely distinct from wireless and infrared technologies as it uses the minute electric field emitted on the surface of the human body.

A transmission path is formed at the moment a part of the human body comes in contact with a RedTacton transceiver. Communication is possible using any body surface, such as the hands, fingers, arms, feet, face, legs, or torso. RedTacton works through shoes and clothing as well. When the physical contact gets separated, the communication is ended.

  • The RedTacton transmitter induces a weak electric field on the surface of the body.
  • The RedTacton receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on the surface of the body caused by the transmitter.

This module consists of the RedTacton transmitter, RedTacton receiver, Driver, ARM controller unit, and Voicebank. RedTacton is a HAN; the body of a human being is used for the transmission of signals. RedTacton transmitter consists of a DTMF encoder which generates both valid and

Invalid signals can be transmitted through the human body through the RedTacton receiver (DTMF decoder) for further processing. [4] In the RedTacton receiver by the use of a DTMF decoder, the transmitted signal is identified.

As the transmitted signal is of very low voltage, buffers, and drivers are used to send the received signal to the electromagnetic switch. The electromagnetic switch checks the received signal with the predefined valid code. If an invalid code is received and detected in the switch then the buzzer starts ringing indicating that an invalid card is trying to access the ATM. If a valid code is received, then only the switch sends the signal to the main control unit which is the microcontroller. If the ARM controller gets active it switches on the keyboard where predefined options are stored to perform various tasks such as: Enter password, Change of password, New password, etc. After entering the valid password the voice bank gets activated. In the voicebank, predefined options with keys are present which guide the user to select the appropriate action in the ATM such as Cash withdrawal, Pin change, Account balance, etc…

Advantages:

  1. RedTacton does not require the electrode to be in direct contact with the skin.
  2. Can transmit data at a rate higher than that of peer technologies. (max. of 10Mbps) and Security is more.
  3. RedTacton transceivers are programmable and we can decide what to share with whom and what devices you communicate with.
  4. Each communication occurs in separate channels.
  5. Transmission speed does not deteriorate even though the number of users increases. And More secure than Bluetooth.
  6.  Data loss during transfer is less
  7.  Use of minimum amount of power (of some milli -volt range)
  8.  Superior to infrared technology & Wi-Fi
  9. No problem with hackers. It is very hard to pick up stray electronic signals radiating from the body.

Disadvantages:

  1. The obvious barrier to entry is that the cost and time to develop HAN TECH. are very expensive.
  2. As a new technology, HAN needs to gain popularity among users to help pull the technology into the marketplace instead of having it pushed upon them.
  3. Widespread marketing campaigns will need to be developed to highlight the benefits of HAN technology to facilitate its adoption.
  4. Not useful unless many people adopt it.
  5. It can be useful within a few centimeters only
