The Blind Aid project aims to develop a portable Electronic Travel Aid (ETA) for the visually impaired. It also involves creating a radio frequency identification (RFID) localization infrastructure for equipping buildings. The project addresses the challenge of indoor navigation in unfamiliar buildings for the visually impaired. It recognizes that blind individuals can navigate various obstacles like moving ramps, escalators, revolving doors, and turnstiles. The cane tip is used to detect the beginnings and ends of stairways. The ultimate goal is to provide blind and visually impaired individuals with independent mobility through the use of modern technologies and electronic travel aids.
